Oil Pressure gauge not working.

I have a 74 911S Targa. When turned off the oil pressure gauge on zero turn key on and the needle goes to 140 fire the car up and still stays there. Presume electrical fault. Any suggestions to what the problem may be or what things do I need to check out. Any help to sort out the problem would be much appreciated. Thanks.
