1987 911..can't open engine lid!!!

My 1987 911 has an issue. I pull on the handle in the door jam and the engine lid will not open. I tried lightly banking on it to no avail.

How can I get the engine lid open without cutting a big hole in the lid... :(

try parking on an uneven surface with more weight on one of the rear wheels, or have a second person pull up on one corner while you pull on the release lever.

Here were some responses when I had the same problem.

Have someone pull on the handle while you gently press and wiggle the engine cover. A common issue that has been widely discussed here. The fix has also been discussed, but the above should get the cover open. You might cut a short piece of rubber hose to hold the handle in the open position while you open the lid (my wife rolls her eyes when I ask her to pull my handle...insert winky face) otherwise you may need Manute Bol length arms to accomplish the task on your own.

Damn, after reading my reference to Manute Bol, it might be misconstrued as a compliment to either one of us.

:D:D:D

That's pretty funny!

I figured it might be a two man job. I did use a piece of wood to hold the handle while I jiggled the lid to no avail. I think it needs two folks jiggling.....
