Engine rebuild while you're in there
 

I have an 89 Targa with 194k miles. The engine is out for rebuild. Clutch was last replaced at 100k miles. Main engine fuel line was replaced at about 170k miles. Should I look at replacing any other fuel lines? What other "while you're in there" items should I pay attenton to in and around the engine bay while the drivetrain is out?

Rear wheel bearings
Trailing arm bushings
Brake lines
R & R your heater flapper boxes
Adjust rear parking brake cables
Motor/trans mounts
Starter
Clutch release fork update
New engine sound mat

Good Stuff. Any other input on the fuel line that comes from the body into the engine bay?

Check the rubber and the fittings - if it is cracked or looks questionable, replace it.

Are you referring to the tunnel lines or (most likely) the feed and return lines from the tunnel to the fuel filter and motor? I would change them out also, they are 25 YO.. Main fuel lines are done, including the crossover and the J line?

I was only thinking about the return line. It has a rubber portion that is attached the the hard line but there is no removable fitting so I guess you have to replace the whole line as pictured here

I don't think there is a need to replace the pressure line which is a hard line with no rubber portion pictured here

Any help with know which rubber pieces should be replaced in much appreciated.

Those last two pictures are the lines in the tunnel, they are plastic with rubber on the fuel pump end. As long as the rubber ends are good and no one had welded/drilled the tunnel I would leave them alone. If questionable now is the time as you really need the engine/trans out to get them in/out. On my car the feed and return are rubber (with steel fittings), I would have any old rubber replaced with E85 tolerant material.. All steel lines, if not horribly corroded, are fine.
