Eastwood Yellow Zinc Cad on Fuel Rails

I decided to change out the fuel lines on my '85 M491. I wound up removing the manifolds which led to new injectors, vac hoses, etc. The fuel rails really looked crappy.
I was going to send them to a plater but he was backlogged for 4-6 weeks, too long to wait.

I have used Eastwood Cad system before with marginal results in the past. I did a little research and the thought is to make the metal you are coating as shiny as possible and mist the gold, green and just a touch of red tint.

The results are not too bad, definitely better than before, but not real yellow zinc. What do yoose think?

Looks great. I suspect the paint would last about as long as plating would if done right.

Definitely better, spot on colour actually by the pics! I too am curious as to how long it will last in engine bay/heat & how durable it will be? I suppose clear coating it w/hi-heat protect may destroy or alter greatly the colour & hue. Nice job either way!

Looks very good. A decent option overall.

I used a clear and all coats were layed on wet. I would like to have plated everything but this will do until the next "while your in there" project. I'm still amazed as to how things can snowball into a larger project. I guess using the word "snowball" isn't a good term on a day like today!

Mike,

I can't tell from the photos it's not the real deal. What did you do for the flex lines?

Nice job! I would expect in some ways it would hold up better than the real thing. Is the Eastwood kit a high heat paint?

I like it. These aren't terribly visible on an assembled engine, so to the casual observer I think the effect would be just want you want. (I painted mine black - so far, so good.)

John, the fuel lines are Len's. He does a spectacular job, the new crimps are yellow zinc but I'll probably touch up the nuts. I didn't feel like going through the trouble of sending the hardware to my plater in the Bronx. I just wanted to clean up things

Eastwood Golden Cad System

I am starting out with a pretty clean engine.

Cool, thank you for the link. I've done something similar with brackets that were NLA. My method was to spray a light coat of aluminum color paint then spray an even lighter coat of gold.

I honestly thought you had used the system linked below. Glad I asked.
