Front condenser hole cover ideas/help
Does anyone have any clever ideas on how to cover the front A/C condenser hole without additional drilling or dangling overhang of the area?
The pictures below illustrate the direction of my first attempt. - Issue 1: For some reason there are no existing stock mounting holes on the right hand (as viewed) side of the hole. Thus if one were to mount a simple sheet metal cover, the right hand side would simply flap around. Yes, one could simply drill 2 more additional holes. However before doing so I wanted to see how others handle this without drilling two additional holes. I was thinking of perhaps some sort of large "plug", but I suspect such may be beyond my tooling/sheet metal skillz. - Issue 2: In the second picture is a sheet metal covering. I created it by simply matching up to the fan shroud. Note how on the right hand side the outline actually exceeds and simply dangles outside the mounting area. Yes the fan shroud actually does the same thing. WTF? To correct this I was thinking to create a cardboard template of the current a cover and trim/experiment to get a final shape which properly does not dangle over the fan hole area on the right side. I was also considering changing direction and making the cover match up (and install) from the bottom side underneath. Has someone perhaps done something all together different? ![]() ![]() |

Sheet metal panel. I added two additional mounting holes where you have your question marks. The whole thing got a bead of seam sealer and was painted to match the trunk.
You could get away w/o any hardware by just using the seam sealer.
