Name that 911 part...

Can someone here identify this part? I believe it is a strut brace for a 911 3.2 but I am not sure.

I'm helping a friend of mine sell his 1984 911 Targa Carrera and he has this part in his spare parts bin for the car.

TIA for any help.

It is an aftermarket "strut bar" which some mount between the top of the front strut mounts in the front trunk. The second bar mounts at an angle from one strut mount down to the lower part of the strut housing on the opposite side of the front trunk.

My 2c: I do not think they do much for the handling of a 911, but then I never met anyone who admitted that he spent money on an aftermarket part that did nothing and he took it off. Looks like the previous owner of this car did take it off however.

with all due respect, a targa can use any bit of stiffening one might implement...

I am sure you are 100% correct, but do not know if a "strut bar" would help a targa.

Isn't the only real solution for stiffening a Targa lenghtwise and torsionally this:

Everything else seems to be little more than window dressing.
