How to mod front wheel hubs for bigger brakes?

I have a 911sc.
Does anyone know what wheels hubs to use with big reds and 996 N/A? I've heard something about modding 924 hubs, but i don't remember what and how?

Other good and cheap solutions to get 996N/A front brakes to fit in a 911sc are also welcome

the Porsche brakes found on the 911 SC are plenty for the car ...

A little research will back that up .. the engineers deliberately over engineered the brakes based on race review data ....

it is your choice but unless you have drastically over powered your car the need to upgrade the brakes is not really needed .... better off looking into new rotors and good pads vs cobbling in something ....

You can get the brakes off a turbo and swap them over pretty easy but expensive ....

The kit on my car was bought from Instant-G, but I don't know where they get the hubs from.

The kit wasn't cheap, but not particularly expensive either, and it required a certain amount of work to fit, but it works like a charm.

Steve at Instant-G has the hubs custom made for his kits. Have them on my 86 with 996TT brakes and they work perfectly

Thank you guys! The instant g parts are not to bad priced, but i have tools and machines to make the parts my self, and i know that the hubs are just some modified porsche hubs. Seems like i´ll end up making front rotor hats that fit some other brand rotor about the same size as 996 N/A or buy the instant g kit.

I have 996TT brakes on my 89 and i had to replace the Timmins modified hubs that came with my conversion kit, they're early 944 hubs to which you have to mill out the outer diameter so they fit inside your brake rotors ... that's all !

PM me if you need more info

Cheers

I managed to find a picture for you ...

That is what a machined 85-86 944 front hub looks like for a 996TT application.I scrapped one of the Instant G hubs two seasons ago and i picked up a used set for $50.00 and had them turned down by a local machine shop for twenty dollars.

If you feel adventurous, you can fabricate some home made cooling duct backing plates

Hope this helps !

Cheers
Phil
