It's actually a Mini...owned by a friend of mine here in Dayton. Timing chain tensioner failure.

If he works on Minis definitely give Alex Vaughan a try in Tempe, very happy with his work.

I wouldn't take any car to Silver Star. I purchased my '84 911 from a fellow in Glendale and he had taken it to Silver Star (I gues because it was local?). He brought it in for valve cover leaks and SS proceeded to slather thick silicone all over all four valve covers and the chain box covers - they were cemented in place.

I wanted to murder the guy who did that, not the correct way to fix leaks. Silver Star also replaced the clutch not long before my prurchase and the cable was horribly out of adjustment - also not rocket science.

There were a couple of other things on the repair order that were eye opening and I felt the guy was taken.

Edit: Oops! I misread the post - I thought he wrote Silver Star (in Glendale). Beware of them in any case.

Jay at Extreme Performance Tuning in Goodyear has treated me well and knows most types. No 911 experience that I'm aware of however. Mostly twin turbo installs on domestics and any work on modern Europeans like VW/Audi etc.

Becks European in Scottsdale (a bit far away). Frank has always treated me right with my 911. His new shop is BMW and Mini also.

Beck's European: Repair, Restore, Racing for Porsche, BMW, Audi & MINI

Good Luck.
