Which Two Oil Lines Do I Replace When Updating Exhaust on 3.2 Carrera?

I have an '86 911 3.2 Carrera with a backdated exhaust (SSIs with two-in-two-out muffler). I need to "update" the muffler to correct specs to pass DEQ. I have all of the hard parts (heat exchangers, crossover pipe, cat, and muffler) but don't know which two oil lines I need to complete the job. Does anybody know (and can provide part numbers)? I'm sorry I didn't search because I don't know exactly what to search for…

Thanks!

Actually I'm removing my SSIs, so I needed to get the stock oil lines. I called PP and talked to Darren, who was very helpful, and we got the parts ordered. For future reference, the part numbers are:

911-107-741-17-M260
Oil Line Hose - Engine to Flexible Oil Hose 911 1985-89

930-107-417-02-M100
Engine Block Oil Pressure Line Bracket

930-107-743-15-M127
Oil Line from Engine Pipe to Thermostat, 911 1984-89

Thanks!

Doug I think you could stay with the existing lines. I dont think they will be in the way? I don't think the inspector would notice the difference?

I believe the issue is backdated lines interfere with the stock exhaust components.

I have to put the stock exhaust back because there is no cat on a car listed as "catalyst equipped". And yes, they noticed… :(

I meant I did not think they would notice the oil lines. Now that I think about it the way the stock manifolds crosses over to the one side is the same place the backdated line comes over. Did you try looking for the lines used? I think I have at least one maybe two of them, I know I had to cut one apart to get it off.

You know what might have worked is the line that Elephant sells that goes over the top of the transmission?

Anyway - glad you got it worked out. Are you going to switch back and forth between exhausts?

Doug, I have the stock lines if you need them.

Doug, what are you thinking of doing with the SSIs? No emissions tests down here in Eugene...

Gotcha, thanks. I just wanted to go back to stock, and I prefer new as I'm planning on keeping this car "forever". Plus, I wanted to get them quickly…if I get the car done today I get to drive it all weekend! :)

Once I'm back to stock, I won't be changing again. Scooter has some suggestions on a sport muffler, so I might do that down the line. But as much as I love the SSIs, I don't want the hassle of swapping.

Thanks Scott! I went ahead and ordered them new after talking with Darren. See note above. Wanna take bets on if I actually keep this car forever? ;)

:D They will be going up for sale, along with the two muffler options (I have a dual-in-dual-out and a dual-in-single-out) and maybe a Steve W chip.

Ah…sorry we missed! Well at least now I can sell mine as a complete package.

Cheers!

This is a great board…I'm already getting a ton of folks asking about the SSIs and muffler(s) for sale! I want to be fair, so I'd appreciate the gang hanging on until I can make certain exactly what I'm selling and their condition so I can price them fairly. Hopefully this weekend but maybe early next week.

Thanks!

I'm interested, but now isn't really a good time for me, sadly. :( Got wheels being re-anodized as I type this, new tires, align and corner balance after the wheels return.

But sounds like they'll find a nice Pelican home somewhere soon!

I know the feeling. I've got a ton of projects for this car, but don't have the money coming in to do them! A good tax return and the need to register the car soon are driving this project. And frankly, I'd keep the SSIs if I didn't need the money...

Stop! Wait!! Don't go back to the stock oil lines!!!
If I read that right you are currently running the backdated oil lines plus you have an 86 so you have the 915 trans.

Cool! You can have the best of both worlds!
Get the Elephant Racing Universal Crossover Line. It goes over the top of the transmission so it clears any exhaust.
I put it on my car and it makes the swap to stock painless. (Install on a G50 trans car requires modifying the transmission...)
