89 3.2 Carrera return fuel line removal

My engine is out and want to replace engine return to tank fuel line that is part hard line and part flexible rubber on the engine side. How does the return line enter the fuel tank...am I correct to think it would dump to the top side? Just want to know if fuel will dump out of the line when I disconnect it at the fitting on the engine side of tunnel before removing it. And...can you pull the line out of the engine side without having to remove e foam insulation that surrounds the heater flapper box that is mounted along the path of the fuel line just before it enters the engine bay. Pretty tight quarters even when the engine is out.

The rear return line is effectively one-piece from engine to tunnel. It has a rubber rear section permanently crimped to a green steel hardline that connects at the rear of the Tunnel.

You must remove the foam & possibly the Left Heater Flapper box to get it out. It depends on if you want to save this steel hardline or not.

Up front, the Return Tunnel line is permanently crimped to the Return Hose going to the bottom of the Tank. The tank will drain when you separate the connections at the Tunnel, so you may as well drain it first. You can disconnect the rear feed hose at the filter & with another hose run the pump to empty the tank into another vehicle.

Of course Fire ext & Battery disconnect are first steps.
