Post Door Actuators

I want to add an alarm with keyless entry, but I have been unable to find an actuator that will fit between my door and the window mechanism. Does anybody know where I can find an actuator that is thin enough or where I might look? If it matters I am putting this on a 77 911S.

Thanks,
Rick

I admit, I don't know much about the systems, but maybe central locking actuators from a 3.2 Carrera would fit the bill. I know you can hook up alarm systems to these.

I'm sure someone on the board could shed more light on the subject.

It's been awhile, but if I remember corrctly, you can't use the standard aftermarket actuators with that car.

Seek out the small square ones made by I believe "Rockwell". Looks like a small square box, not phallic like the other ones. Any car stereo shop should know what to give you. They're nicer too. more durable and doesn't mess up the feel of the doorlock mechanism like the other ones do. Be prepared to spend some money (at least in relation to the other ones)

It's been years since I've tinkered, hope my facts are still correct.

Cool

Rick..I did the full Monty on my humble '77..simple/mindless/time consuming...I used a Viper Alarm w/lock beepers that I bought from Car Audio Innovations in Sacramento, he'll walk you thru any 911 alarm/audio install..he does have a site...anyway the hardest part is running wires from door to body...so I used stock 911 lock motors in the stock location.I had to drill holes for mounting.. the stock connecting rod from motor to lock was drilled at the lock end to attach to a hole in a lock lever using a machine screw and nylon/plastic insert nut...plenty of things to do inside the doors for entertainment..may want to add some Dynamat to door skin for a heavier/better sounding door closing..the install is a class act.............Ron

Try these.

They mount in the same mounting holes as the original.

Look carefully and you will see they are similar, but not exactly the same. I'm sure the casing material is also different as is the wiring.

I had mine in for the last year and absolutly no problems. Open one door, the other opens. With a remote entry system added, I hardly ever use the key. I also have it set to lock the doors on start, and unlock when the engine is turned off. The interior light delay is also built in. I think I paid in total about $75 for the whole system including the keyless remotes.

Wiring from the doors was a pain.
