Weber Percolation Modification

Is there anyone out there that provide specifics on the Weber percolation modification? I know in general that it involves a hole drilled in the top casting that allows the venting of the float bowl chamber to the main venturi. I have a few spare tops that I have been looking at and need some specifics before I go crazy with the drill.

Thanks,
Andrew M

PMO in California make a jig/drill guide that will ensure your hole is precisely where it is meant to be. The problem I have (as I suspect you will too) is PMO are still in the dark ages with no email or website, you have to fax. I don't have the number with me but a search of these archives should turn it up.

I think PMO's customer service SUCKS!!!!!!!!

unfortunatley they are the Weber gurus....

I bought my webers from PMO in the mid '80s, when they could actually answer the phone and talk to you.

I guess it takes balls to redesign 30 yr old carbs, and then do business by fax only?

or maybe i dont know the secret handshake

Yeah, I have a current phone number but it just goes through to a voicemail message saying that they do business by mail or fax only. I think that our host gets their rebuild kits and watershields from PMO, but no listing for other stuff. I was just looking to do the modification this weekend - or maybe not I guess....

Regards,
Andrew M

Andrew

Beside PMO you can check with Pegasus or Greenfield. they have weber parts, usually just jets etc.. and you can talk to a human....

you could do the perc mod yourself

Im wondering why though? i have had 3 weber carbed 911's.. didnt perform the perc mod on any one of them.... there was no need to

You could get the insulators, but PMO makes them, so youll have to buy them from one of PMO's vendors.

Dealing with a vendor who can only be contacted via fax is a bit odd to say the least. At first I was very reluctant to deal with them, but they are the only game in town for some things.

I have found them to be quite responsive. I send a fax, they call within 24 hours. Same day if I get the fax in early enough.

Ditto on the fact that they respond to FAXes with a phone call. I just FAX them with what I want and they call to discuss and get the CC number.

Also - there is an article in an old Up-Fixen written by the owner of PMO describing the anti-perc modification.

I had nothing but good dealings with PMO. Send them a fax, they respond back very quickly.

I have the drill fixture set up from them if anyone wants to borrow it
