Someone out there must know this.. !

What is the rod that goes from the transmission to the throttle assembly called? What is its purpose?

Has a loop that fits over an arm on the dvrs side of the trans, and then connects onto the throttle assembly on top of the engine..

It connect the horizontal rod from the tunnel through the engine tin to the throttle via a bell crank at the front of the engine. The loop is there so that you can remove it once its disconnected at the top.

Ah ha. Okay now it makes sense. Had the engine out and transmission separated and had misplaced the rod.

I think it's also so that you can manually move the throttle butterfly from the engine bay without pushing all of the various linkage parts up to the gas pedal, which might bind or something from being pushed "backwards". If you sit and "rev the engine" from the engine bay, that loop takes up the motion and keeps the rest of the linkage steady.

Makes sense.. an unintended benefit to German "over engineering"... Danke schon
