Air Volume Meter Resistance values? - Help!

As part of debugging my full throttle hesitation problem, I took off the air volume meter to check it's operation.

At full close (the flap is closed) I'm getting around 500 ohms. At full open (full throttle, flap fully opened), resistance decreases to around 100 ohms. The Bentley manual simply tells you to see if the resistance changes. It does. Does anyone know the normal operating specs for the potentiometer in the airbox?

Thanks!

Don,
Just noticed your post - sorry!
Had a local Pelican with a bad airbox just a week ago, so had a chance to compare his with mine, which is known good.

Good readings are from around 500ohms closed to arount 2Kohms fully open. The faulty box was measuring 500 open dropping to around 400 fully opened. I removed the cover from the potentiometer housing, and it was clear that the contact had carved tracks in the resistive coating. Tried to re-jig the contact to work in a 'new' arc, but no luck.

Marc managed to find a NOS air meter for $150 - email me and I'll get the contact details to you.

Marc posted this on the original thread.

Wow - so IF I read my ohmmeter right, my air volume meter is reading backwards - decreasing resistance with increasing airflow. I'll definitely re-check this tomorrow.

I'll drop you a mail about the airbox - the new one looks like $393 which is painful.

THANKS!SmileWavy

Don
