Anybody know where I can buy the metal half-moon piece that locks the fan in place?
Like an idiot, I took off my fan to paint it red. I forgot I had left the little hard metal half-moon shaped thing in the alternator shaft and after I had cleaned and sanded the fan shroud, it was gone. I can't find the part on this website and am wondering if anyone knows where I can find one. Amazing that one little tiny 10-cent piece of metal can keep me from driving or even starting my car.

You might try Westlake Hardware, or someplace like an Ace Hardware. Usually they carry woodruf keys like the one you lost.

Woodruf key huh? Cool..will checkout Ace tomorrow. Any idea what size it is?

Well, I just spent two hours in Ace Hardware, and could not find anything even close to a woodruf key, and none of the high school kids working there had a clue what I was talking about. If you have one or can find one and send it to me I'll pay you $20 ASAP!!! I can't drive without it!!!

update...
Okay...found 'em! Advance Auto Parts had part number 13125 which is a red package labled "HELP" among the misc. screws and springs, and it's simply the Woodruf Key Assortment. ($3.99)
I also got a Gear Oil Pump for $5.99, part number SL-4344 from Sta-Lube products. It's turning out to be a good day!!! kc
