Ok, So what is wrong with this car
Is there really no market for 3.6L conversions. They dont seem to be of great value?

PWD,
Send all those awful TARGAS to Phoenix. I will take them all! Tired of you guys wining about them all the time. Better than a cabrio and safer to boot! The wheels on the car for sale look like doggy caca and the interior looks like its seen better days, but a 3.6 very well may end up in my TARGA before years end and I cannot wait! Joe

Joe, I was being tongue in cheek on the Targa thing...but this car itself? 180K on the clock? Who did the transplant? There is more to the low bidding than just the 3.6 transplant, methinks...

I agree with you and the one thing missing is when the transplant was done. If it was done in the last few thousand miles and its got a fresh motor in it using a Dr Steve kit, then its a different story.
It does have a lot of miles on it and will not sell this round. He needed to put better info on the advert with a starting price of $5k and a reserve where his threshold of pain was! Assumed that you were kidding but I have owned a coupe and targa and honestly enjoy the targa more. You have a rollbar that the cabrio does not and its almost as difficult to break into as the coupe, something that a cabrio cannot say. When funds and a larger garage are in the picture I will get another coupe and keep both! joe

My take on "what wrong" has more to do with the average buyer. It's a small crowd that won't be intimidated by a an old Porsche with a retrofited motor.
A lot of us here can see value in the retrofit, but for the average buyers, they will "feel more comfortable" with a big car payment on a 993, or so.

Is it me, or do those wheels look like a bad photoshop job?
18"s just don't look right on a 911. Tom |

How about this one? Auction says a 86 911 and when you read the fine print its a 74 chassis with a salvage title! He took some of the good bits off of a later car, put them on an early chassis and is now calling it a 86 model car! The guy has a "buy it now" price of $19k!!
The only nice things on the car are that it has a 3.2 motor with new PMO carbs and Dansk headers. Appears to have a Saratoga top but who knows from the advert.

I am going to start selling things on ebay. Just when I think I am going to get a good deal......things just get bid up to stupid levels.
Even full retail on some items. The fact that anyone would pay even 10K for that 74 is insanity |

SCCA,
When I have sold items on Ebay I almost always count on 20% more than if I had sold a part using other means. There are just too many people who get caught up in the auction fever and keep bidding. Someone with money burning a hole in his pocket will buy the 74 cum 86 and months later figure out that he got took... JA
