Front Bumper alignment issues HELP

Okay re fitting the front bumper on my 84 carrera after some paint work and cleaning has been done. I'm having a lot of problems getting the left side or passenger side on our side of the world lined up. The drivers side mates up perfectly to the rubber smile but the left side has about a 7 mm gap. No matter how much mucking around I do I cant seem to get them to align. I have double checked the crush tubes sit the same distance off the ground but it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Now Im pretty sure the bumper crush tubes are straight i measured them and they line up perfectly as does the top and bottom of the bumper when it lies of the ground.

The bottom bolt on the front seems to be the one that pulls it up to the gaurd when its tightened. Ive loosened off all the mounting hardware to push it up but it still doesnt seem to want to line up any suggestions please help.

Heres some pics of the drivers side perfect passenger side just a little bit off.

Try torquing the "bottom" bolt on the left side a bit more, and slightly loosening the "top" bolt on the left side crush tube bolts. This will slightly change the orientation of the bumpers. I had the same thing, and was frustrated until I figured that out. Notice that of the two bolts on the shocks, one is top, and one is bottom. Thus, if you tighten the bottom more that the top, it will "pull" the top of the bumper up, and vice versa.... there is some "give" to the mating surface of the crush tubes as I believe there should be a rubber spacer with can give a bit...

yeh I cut the rubber spacers on the front of the crush tubes so they were the same size as the crush tube ends and that made a big difference it pulled up more uniform. I will loosen off the top bolt on the front of the crush tube as you say and see how I go I was a aware of the changes in angle when you tighten each one should have gone back and done as you said I was just a bit frustrated because Im a perfectionist...lol

Loosen everything up (bumper shocks, bumper bolts) until it is just snug...take your floor jack with a rag on it to protect the paint on the bumper and jack it up under the low side until it is flush...retighten everything, starting with that side.

There is enough adjustment room in the bolts to the bumper and the bumper shocks to the shell to work that out.

Hi! I’m having the same problem!!’ 😩😩😩😩. I’m trying to correct this too and it’s driving me crazy. Did you ever figure out how to fix this????

don't be afraid to put a well padded floor jack under it to coax it into place after loosening all the other fasteners a bunch.
