SC Backdate to RS body work....

Anyone know what year fenders and hood that will fit on an SC to RS backdate project?

I have a source for a 66 and a 69, will these work or are they too early?

Go with the 69 parts. The horn vents and light box are different than an RS on the 66 fenders.

Mike,

Look at the fenders and hood very closely before laying down your cash.

Old style fenders rust around the headlight bucket and along the back side of the fender joint, as well as the top of the fender arch in the back. Hoods tend to get rust in the inside lip in the front where moisture tends to rest.

I have been looking for months for parts like this and have not found any (under $1000 for fenders) that I could afford that were rust free, so be careful.

The above post is correct that you want the 69-72 model parts for your car.

Joe

If you are going for the RS look, go with the 1969 fenders. As Boboloo mentioned, the '66 fenders are different. The lights are recessed more into the fender and have headlight covers similar to that found on a VW beetle (actually the same parts, I believed). On a '69-73, there is no light cover. And, yes, these parts are extremely prone to rust.

the headlight assemblies will work fine...i just bought rust free fenders for $200.00 a pair and now working on good turnsignal housings. i have a few of them rounded up and trying to restore them. what are you going to dop on the latch panel? i gues you could just use the rs straps to hold it down but there might be some sealing issues since your cars latch panel is 2-3 inches back!
