Installed a Molded Dash Cover Last Weekend
It was a Coverlay brand dash cover. Cost was $80.
My dash was warped really bad, especially around the center A/C vent. It was also warped at both defroster vents. It came from the factory with a leather cover, which most likely contributed to the warping. I removed the leather from the top of the dash, cutting it with a Stanley knife. I left leather around the defroster vents and at the tagent point of the dash face. I used a straight razor to cut down the warped areas. Then I recovered the cut down spots with the leather that I left on the dash during the removal process, glueing it down with contact cement. The dash cover required a little trimming, but not much. It also needed to be reformed around the defroster area. I used a heat gun to get it into shape in those areas. When I was satisfied with th fit I attached it with RTV dots (supplied with the cover) and held it down with some old engineering text books (always knew those books would come in handy one day). I'm very happy with the results. While it doesn't look as good as a new dash it's still a lot better than the old. Total installation time was 2 hours. Good planning and patience is all that's required to get satisfactory results. PB |

Thanks for the info. I plan to go this route on my track car. I could justify $400 plus installation on my SC but not on a car that has no carpet and no door panels. Any pics?
