Engine ID help
I have acquired at my shop a complete engine with mfi. It came out of a very rough 1973 car that was stored for over 20 years. The car is long gone. The engine serial number is 6668025. Would appreciate help identifying what we have here.
Thanks |
Dude if that case is stamped 930/02 and is aluminum. That's a 1976 930 case. Originally a 1976 carrera engine. Head if original are 49/41.5 valves and 39/35 ports. Check for the 930/02 and look at the heads for part numbers see if they are still there.

It was a lighter CIS engine with the 2.7 crank and 930 case. No turbo but all 930/02 came with Mahler nikasil cylinders too. If intact and running you've got something real nice there. Just the case alone. Heads alone and or cylinders alone are bucks. Can you say high rev short stroke 2.8 or 3.0 rebuild? Cool if intact

Check the case stamp and check the part numbers on any part that has markings

I forgot to mention the car was a euro spec 911. Car apparently was raced, to what degree or where was not known. The car(with motor)was imported directly from Europe to US, so this motor was never a US smog version. I'm not sure if the euro 930 were MFI. Will check numbers in the next day or so. Appreciate the info so far!

The fourth digit, "8", does not fall within the range of engines that I could find. The 76 3.0 Euro carrera had a range from 6660001-6661385. Are you certain the fourth digit is an 8? If so, it's possible it's a replacement case.

I'll recheck that number again. Thanks.

Thanks for the help. Everything checks. We've got one more ID question for this forum. Pulled out of long term storage a motor (no car) with mfi with the serial number 6321711. Appreciate help in IDing this one as well.
Thanks! |

Decodes to a 1972 S engine, series number 1711 Look for engine type stamp 911/53. 190 hp MFI injected engine Nice find! |
If you want to sell Speedo has been looking for a '72 S engine for a while now.
On the 3 liter what's the number on the MFI pump. If you have a real 3 liter pump, and not a conversion, the pump alone is worth more than a complete 911sc 3 liter engine. |

Pump number you asked about:
Ser. 13108659 0408 126 019 Distributor on the 72 s motor 0231 169 005 JFUD 6 Have not gone back and checked the case on the 72 if its 911/53. |
That a nice MFI pump 019 RS

What year is this for?

I think he's saying '73 RS. Not RSR valuable but still worth a lot. Suggests your whole mfi may be original RS. I'd get casting numbers off the manifolds next. Pictures would be great too.

911 110 312 R
Heads...911 104 307 R 2-72 5K 1819H I got to clean things for pics. Maybe later. A question again about the mfi pumps. Are the last three numbers the indicator (019) of 73 RS pump or the numbers that preceded it. Thanks! |
heads 70-73 S same as 73RS as the date 2-72 now you have mfi pump 019 73RS the heads.

Update... did a quick look at the 72 S case. Could not find the 911/53 that ossiblue mentioned. Got this number
901 101 102 4 R What does that, if anything, tell us? |
This is one side what is the other side. It should 901 101 102 3R if it 72
