Oil Tank Unboxing

Just got my oil tank back from Pacific Oil Cooler. What an awesome job they do.

I should have taken a before pic. But here is what I got back. This has to be one of the better bargains around for restoration of a 911 part.

Well Packaged!!

Wow - I powder coated mine gloss black and it's too shiny if you want to judge.

Yours looks perfect.

I paid $143 for the service, plus shipping each way.

Mine was apparently extra dirty and had to go through their process twice. They did not find any damage when they bead blasted the tank so your mileage may very in regards to cost.

The customer service was pretty good too. They called me halfway through with an update on their progress.

Thanks, I wouldn't judge since it's hiding inside the fender.

These get sent to them minus sending unit? I want to send mine out, but on the road next 2 weeks so I need to get it boxed up tomorrow and have my wife drop it off at FedEx for me.

Being that I am kind of local, 50 miles away, I took my oil engine cooler and front cooler to them after talking to Wayne on the phone.
Estimate is $125 per cooler, and it should take about a week.
I can't wait to see what they look like...
Wayne is a cool guy and we started to talk bikes since I rode mt Beemer to his shop with my coolers...

So PCO did the painting as well? I sent my cooler to them last year to be serviced, and at the time also inquired about servicing the oil tank. They mentioned that the ultrasonic process they used typically strips most of the existing paint off the tank, but they did not offer an option to have it re-painted afterwards. Perhaps this is a new service they offer. Did they use paint or powder coat on your tank?

I wanted to have my tank power coated, but did not want to powder coat the tank after PCO serviced it, since the PC shop will likely media blast the outside to strip any remaining paint, thus contaminating the tank again. But if I have the tank Power Coated and then serviced by PCO, their process may strip the power coating (I need to call and check).

So to be safe, I was considering the following steps:

1. Strip Tank
2. Have PCO service it
3. Have tank Powder Coated

Is this what others have done?

I did not do any prep other than make sure I got as much oil out as possible so it didn't leak out of the packaging material. They did the ultrasonic process twice and painted it. My father in law did a tank as well and it got matte paint where mine is somewhat glossy. Painting is just part of there process and you are not charged an additional fee for it.

Not to be a wet blanket, but does it concern anybody that maybe some blasting material gets stuck inside the tank at the powder coaters. Not a good thing to have in your oil.

Less shipping cost...

pacific oil cooler is great to deal with, and does awesome work. i shipped a "tested & cleaned" cooler to them that i got from the classified here and their test & cleaning superceeded the sellers apparently because it failed their testing process. the fact that their main business is aviation components i suspect car parts are done to very high standards as well.

if they were on the east coast would they not be atlantic coolers?
