Quickie Fuchs Refurb
So all you q tip warriors can go, well, do what you do, but for the rest of us here's how I took a pair of wrecking yard Fuchs and cleaned them up. Total time is about an hour and a half per wheel. That said - I use power tools for a living so there's some operator experience going on here.
Step one - using an angle grinder slowed down to lowest speed and a foam backed hook and loop 500 grit pad knock off the worst of it. Use soapy water for lube. ![]() ![]() ![]() Then switch to a cotton buffing wheel in a right angle die grinder. Use Flitz polish with more soapy water to keep it all nice and gooey. ![]() ![]() To get the inside bits use a dremel with a cotton buffing wheel ![]() Then some rattle can semi gloss clear to match the look of OEM anodizing. Bottle caps make nice plugs to keep the spray paint out of the lug holes. ![]() And voila! clean hoopdies ![]() 2 wheels -about 3 hours. Not concours, but for a set of track wheels not too dang bad. -C
