WOW - 911 Carrera RS Lightweight sells at Auction for $1.4M!?!
I guess I was wrong (my wife will tell you that happens quite a bit more than I will admit). Just sold at Gooding's auction at Amelia Island. I still don't understand.

Insane, that looks like the car I saw in Ed Mayo's shop down in Dallas.

I said they were becoming drivable investments. I was wrong as well.
They're now UN-driveable investments. Wonder what the ROI is going to be on that baby?

For the seller, the ROI was probably huge. For the current buyer . . . hmmm, I guess we'll see. I think there's a decent chance that it's not even a positive number. But who knows, only time will tell. |

Holy moly!! I can't really fathom that. For $1.4 mill, I could create a dozen amazing replicas or original hot rods...essentially have Magnus' garage full of project cars, for just the cost of that one machine. Or have a Singer, and half a dozen other toys. Mind = blown

If this is the RS from Austin, I saw it about a month ago with the owner. He didn't really like it because, "it was the ordinary blue on white". To be fair, the other cars in the warehouse made the RS look like a cheap station wagon!!!! Hopefully it went to a real Porsche enthusiast because this gentlemen truly was one.

I swear I saw one in the Blackhawk Collection / Museum in 1995. It was white but I can't remember the offset color. I have pics somewhere.

You don't have the correct serial #, but at least you can drive yours without fear.
I've seen some clones that are better than the factory originals. We all know what it takes to build one, all parts are fairly available if you have a correct chassis the ONLY difference can be the chassis ID tag and the number on the engine. Even the factory started with a 911S off the line. Why are they so high $$$, bragging rights.
