Not the period correct turbo-logo.
Correct one is part no. 930 559 317 00 / 930 559 317 03 https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/93055931703.htm?pn=930-559-317-03-OEM Position: ![]() Source: POCG - Porsche Owners Club Germany The original lid has several drilled holes to fix it like the frunk deck lid with tapping nuts. I prefer not to drill the lid if it hasn't holes and use double sided heat resistant tape to fix the logo. Should be heat resistant up to 100°C / 212°F. Thomas

Thanks Thomas. That’s what I thought. The one on my car now looks like it’s for 997/996 era.
Do you know of the period correct emblem ever came in silver or just black. My car was repainted years ago and I don’t recall which color the emblem was prior to paint job. It came back without the emblem. Appreciate it. Will |

Magnus Walker owns, beside other 930's, the very first in the US ever sold 930, a silver color car with VIN #15 of 1975. It has silver (anodized) window frames, but a black grille and the logo bicolored silver and black "turbo Carrera" (turbo silver, Carrera black): ![]() ![]() ![]() Full video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=mqVwMQMAEEY At some point Porsche named the 930 only "turbo" as in the rest of the world too. Don't ask me when...you obviously have a later model, so I guess the logo should be "turbo" only, even for an US model. The logo on your car seems to come from a 996. Thomas

Super helpful. In my far less academic research, there appears to be a correlation in emblem color to paint color: lighter color cars have black emblem and dark cars (like mine) have silver emblems. Makes sense, as a black emblem on a dark blue or black car could get visually lost.

My take is that you should also have a black Turbo emblem.

The 930 turbo logo afaik was not switched to lighter colors in dependence of car's exterior color. They were all black. Thoma

My '87 has a silver turbo badge. The car is all-original, as far as I know. No body or paint work done on it by any POs.

My car is black and the badge is black. Not sure if Porsche had any real rhyme or reason to it.
Perhaps it was an overlooked option to have a non-black badge?

Badge put on by PO Football legend, circa 1988-1992. Car M491, must have been for bragging rights.

After contacting enough random EBay sellers, I finally got my hands on a silver, period correct “turbo” emblem.
My deck lid does not have the holes for the studs but the emblem has the studs. So, I have two options and would appreciate opinions: 1. Drill the holes and mount with the speed nuts 2. Cut the studs and mount with double sided tape Finally, I’m curious if there was a gasket between the emblem and deck lid similar to the front badge. PET does not show one. Thanks! |

The original script never came in silver - the anodized black finish has faded over the years.
Also, no gasket.
