Left turn signal light not working when headlight switch is on
 

Hi,
My 1988 Carrera left turn signal is not working when the headlight switch is turned on. Signal works normally with the switch off. Also, 5amp fuse for license plate light blows when lights are switched on. I replaced light bulb and flasher relay. Obviously, there is a short somewhere. Just hoping that someone has dealt with this problem and can give me some help where to start.
