Carrera muffler opinions welcome..

I have a one in-two out what I believe to be a B&B muffler in my car now. I bought the car this way. I now have the original Carrera factory muffler for it and I am considering on reinstalling it. Opinions welcome on what if any noise level change I could expect outside and inside the cabin (keeping in mind it is a cabriolet) and any performance changes that may occur.

I have the stock muffler on my 86 cab. Very happy with the sound and performance.

I've had both, and prefer the original, factory style muffler. Maybe it's an age thing, but I like the original sound better than the dual outlet.

Can't say that I really noticed any performance difference, though a dyno may show otherwise.

I think the B&B is a lot louder and has a lot of drone. If you are into it is your choice.

Without any other mods I don't think there are any performance gains. With that in mind I would stay with the original muffler.

I think the original muffler will be quieter than the B&B. I had a B&B on an SC and it was louder than my original.

Love my Monty muffler. Sound is just right -- throaty but not harsh. With cat bypass and SW Chip, dynos out at 206 at rear wheels. This config met WA state emission rqmts. but not required any more as my 88 Targa is over 25 years old.

A Cab call for a 2In / 2 Out...

M&K was perfect but since my wife did not share my "vision" so the replacement Danks Sport did the trick But I'm not selling the M&K

I had an M&K on my cab, way too loud and the noise literally gave me a headache. I would go stock on a cab.

The stock muffler will definitely be much quieter than the B&B and the few, (if any), horsepower lost hardly noticeable in day to day driving. It really doesn't take that long to switch mufflers.

1in 2 out B&B and I'm very happy with it.

Can figure how to embed this using my tablet but here is a link.

After reading many threads, it seems that many cars that are converted from a 1 / 1 out into a 1 in / 2 out have some drone/noise issues. Some have taken to running a cap on one side to simulate a 1 in/1 out for the road and taking it off for the track.

M&K and Monty both seem to have a good reputations as do others. I went the "bang for your buck" route with a 1 in/1 out Dynomax 17676. I am really happy with it as it can be easily modulated with careful RPM management. Below 3k, sounds near stock. Over 4k, sounds like a race car. Works for me and out the door for around $200 after installation.

I am a stock kind of guy but got a bursch quiet street cat bypass and muffler from a pal here and love how it sounds. Wife comments on it when i pick her up curbside. Great, deep, masculine sound, never annoying. Plus it cleans up access for maintenance. One in one out, looks very unassuming.

Do you know what specific Bursch muffler you have?

Have not verified, but have read other threads that state the Bursch muffler is actually the Dynomax 17676 muffler with extra piping.

I'm a fan of the factory muffler. I don't think you'll see any performance change....might even be better. I had a slight decrease in performance on the dyno after I tried a popular after market muffler a few years ago. I didn't do a back to back comparison so it could have just been the day but I think the factory muffler is the best overall for performance and sound.
The sound is personal preference tho. If you like louder mufflers, you might prefer the b&b you have. It's an easy swap so you can just put on the factory muffler and see which you like.
