I have a British '82 Sc and have noticed on other examples that no-one else seems to have the oil pipes that run down the right hand side of the car showing. Even the Sc buyers guide in the last 911 & Porsche World didn't have these pipes showing. Has anyone else got this?

Those pipes shouldn't be hanging like that. There should be small holders that are securing pipes in their respective well. Previous owner probably replaced pipes but couldn't get them back into wells, so he left them hanging.

That's way too low. The kink you see in the pipe should be right snug up against the structural member that's just above it, with the rest of the piping as a result being raise well out of sight, at least out of sight from anybody who isn't down on their hands and knees peering up under the car. there should be three (as I remember) little brackets shaped a little like a B without the vertical, with a screw through their middle into a receptacle under the rocker panel. And I think they ought to be rubber-padded between the bracket and the pipes; at least I did that on my SC.

just wandered out to the garage to look at my SCs oil lines. They are tucked up under the removable rocker panel. The lowest part of the lowest oil line is level with the bottom of the rocker.
