Pictures from the NC Pelican Drive
The weather sucked for the most part but we had some fun. I must say Tom and Hal did an excellent job of planning the route. Lots of second and third gear curves. I did my part to further the SCWDP today.
I have some 30 second video clips but I can not post them anywhere. ~9.5 megs each. Any takers on hosting them. This is the line up at Jim's house (thanks for hosting) This is a front shot of all the cars Here is a picture of Tom's and Hal's Early 911's Here is a shot of the weather And here is one really sweet looking engine. Hope every one had fun and got home ok.

Here are some more photos. Thanks to Ben I will have the videos posted sometime tonight. I have cropped the photos down quite a bit so they fall under 100K. If you see one that you want the full size photo let me know and I will email it to you.
Hope you enjoy.

video clip links
Here they are.
Video was shot on digital camera. Image isn't huge and you only get 30 seconds at a time. Sound is included. http://www.upstate-web.com/porsche/video/pic00001.mov http://www.upstate-web.com/porsche/video/pic00002.mov This one is kinda strange. Was trying to get the cars behind me so I aimed the camera at my side mirror. Didn't turn out great but oh well. http://www.upstate-web.com/porsche/video/mirror.mov

Curtis & Reg, those are 15x7 with 205/55-15 Bridgestone S03 tires. Yesterday was the first outing for them. In general there was not any rub. But one stretch of very twisty and VERY bumpy road was giving me some tire rub problems. Sounded like from the left rear and right front. I think that is the same setup Paul has on his orange car shown here but with a lower ride height. I forgot to ask if he had rub problems on the ride.
If you need tires anytime soon I can recommend the S03s. They were outstanding yesterday in all kinds of weather - damp road in fog, heavy rain, dry roads... Good input response for a tire with full tread depth. I don't know how the ultimate grip or breakaway characteristics are yet but so far so good. Reg, two of those wheels are the ones you and I were both bidding on from the guy in Alabama. They have been refinished since then. btw: I wish it was an S but the car is an E. Although I am not sure I would give it up for an S anymore. Tom

Hi everyone! I was the one who 'bailed out' in Morganton...I was hearing a strange noise/vibration under hard acceleration, which I'd never heard before and once the monsoons hit (and having checked out the weather beforehand), I figured that it wasn't going to get any better...(I'm SURE my car can handle it, it's the 'student driver in progress' combined with the 'wet twisties' that had me concerned). We still had fun for a short while though, and look forward to another run soon! It was great meeting everyone, and a big thank you to all involved in putting this together! What program do you need to view the video clips? I've downloaded one, and using Windows Media Player, all I see is 'water ambience'...wtf! I saw all of the 'water ambience' I wanted to yesterday!!! Next time, someone other than Tom gets to place the 'weather order'!
