replacing the fixed vent window seal
'88 targa, triangular vent window in door (same for cabs and targas)
There is a tear in the rubber around the window, so along with a couple of other parts I ordered the seal from Pelican today. Does anyone have any experience changing those seals? It's a one piece seal that's in a solid frame. I'm hoping it's like the windshield but much smaller and easier. Do I have to remove the frame from the door? Thanks also have a new evaporator fan motor coming and a Flow master --> Flaumeister muffler coming in from Jegs. Can't beat $73 for a quality muffler. |
I believe Wayne listed this as a particularly high-frustration-level job.
I miss the thunder and rumble of my Flaumeister. Here's a thread on it. And another. |
Steve,
The seals you refer to in the door frame are relatively easy to change unlike the rear quater seals which the links above refer to. You will need to take the door panel off and remove the door frame...make sure you undo all the bolts before pulling the frame out... sometimes theres always one you might miss. With the frame out you will see the bolts/allen screws which you must undo inorder to get the glass out. Put on the new seal and then do the reverse of above....... Not to hard at all....
