Transmission query
Transmission query
I have a 71 911 with a 3 liter that is a fairly warmed over engine. I have the 7 R type wheel with 225 /50/15 tires at 6000 rpm in first I'm doing 30 MPH. I'm thinking of refreshing the Trans this winter. Is there any advice about using a taller first and second gear that any of you can share. The Trans is a 915 out of a stock 78. I think the power is there to move the car at 35+ MPH at 6000 rpm. Looking for some practical ideas other than changing to a taller tire. That would be too easy and not allow the use of the 225 width tire and the narrow fender. Thanks |

There are taller first gear sets available. The question is why do you want a taller 1st gear?

Would like to have a little more range in first and second because they are very short at the moment
