Mystery connector in door of '86 Carrera

Can someone identify this connector in the door of my '86 Carrera 3.2? I fixed my door lock and slow power window tonight and found this taped up in the bottom of the door. I think I remember seeing one in the driver's door too, but as my car had RS type door panels on it when I bought it, there's nothing to connect it to. There are aftermarket speakers in the doors but they have their own wiring.

It looks similar to the side mirror connector?
Do you have operational electric side mirrors?

I have the switch for the mirrors but they aren't operational. I suppose 2 connectors not plugged in might cause that. I'll check it out when I button up the passenger door tomorrow night.
