84 m491 heater relay wiring mystery.

manual, lift up levers between the seats. 3 position twist knob on the plastic box for the footwell fans. the mechanical switch under the two levers that completes the ground to the fan relay is there, but there are no yellow wires attached to it or anywhere in the area. the only wires under the plastic box go to the twist knob. i see no evidence of the yellow wires ever being there. no extra loom, no cut off stub in the tunnel, nothing under the carpets or seats. obviously the fans don't get power. guess i need to run a couple of wires back to the relay. wierd. anyone ever seen this?
