Fuel cap wire problem

Hi folks, I'm in a real stick and I'm hoping there's some expert out there with a genius fix. I've been putting my wings back on and have completed that exercise. I have forgotten to feed the fuel cap release wire through the A-Pillar and wing to the release mechanism.

Car is a 911 SC 1983.

I can see the cable but it is taughtly pressed against back of A-Pillar and is too tight to twist and feed through to the release mechanism.

I desperately want to avoid removing the wing. Is there a way to pull the cable back a bit from the lever inside the car? How is this done? Any other ideas?

Thanks for the guidance I'm very grateful.
