Installing new wheels- What does red stud mean?
I just bought some 17 inch 996 wheels for my 92 C2 and I'm trying to figure out how to align the valve and locking nut relative to the red stud.
Is this determined by the wheel style? Or is it the same configuration used for any style wheel on a 964? Right now, I have the valve installed at the red stud and the locking nut on the stud across from it. Hopefully at least the valve is in the right position so I don't have to remove the wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Never mind- I found it in the 964 repair manuals. Locking nut always goes on the red stud. For CUP wheels, the valve goes opposite the red stud. For all other wheels, the valve is installed nearest the red stud.

17" wheels should always be torqued with the wheel off the ground.
