Needle in a Haystack !!!!
Help.... I am looking for "the" or an equivalent of the self tapping screws that holds on the Oil Line Clamp Brackets at the Rocker panel...
The parts diagram says they are 6.3 x 32 Self tapping screws.. and you would think they would be easy to find or a suitable substitute, not so! Argh, they seem to be almost impossible to get or find. I can find the clamps but not the screws to hold them on without re-tapping the holes.. maybe that's the answer.. Anyone?? |

I just went thru this myself. Since they are self tappers there is no need to re-tap the threads. Since my car is a modified beast I was not concerned with "correct" screws. I used #12 x 1 1/4" pan head Phillips self tapping screws.

Try your local Fastenal store. I find they can get almost anything.

The inch equivalent for a 6.3mm self tapping screw is a #14.
I just bought some of these a month or two ago from Porsche for $2 ea. Probably more than they are worth but not worth the trouble to me to run around and try and find the correct size yellow plated screw so I just bought them from the dealer. Todd

Could be part number 900.187.032.02....
Takes about 30 seconds to look it up, if you have a copy of PET, which is free and takes another minute to acquire... JR |

Sorry about that. Obviously you are correct. I just assumed (incorrectly) since he wanted the ones on the right side of the car holding the oil line bracket he needed the 38mm ones as those are the ones used with SC and Carrera cars that also have the rocker trim.

Yes, looks like a metric conversion for a Imperial fastener. 6.3mm being closest to a #14 or a 1/4" (6.35mm)
Length, 32 mm equivalent 1 1/4" Little cheaper at McMaster Carr but I can't talk to the absolute correctness. Looks like you got some good feed back, Cheers
