Tire Valve Stem Aluminium Supports

I'm stalling my Fuch replicas 16x8 rear tires and keeping with the nostalgic look of the OEM, I'm electing for rubber valve stems and the aluminum stems.

They simply double side stick, my question is should the aluminum touch ever so slightly the rubber valve stem, should there be a few MM space etc? How did these come from the factory?

My 83sc had the 16x6 and 16x7 fuch and I'm planning to run the 16x7 up front. The 16x7 also had the aluminum support right? Just the 16x6 rim did not due to the angle of the valve stem.

Anyone can validate my questions and confirm how to mount these aluminum supports would be appreciated!!!
