Engine (Re) Builders......
......what kind of valve spring compressor are you using (that works well with 911 heads)?
Much appreciated if you can post a picture and brand name/part number. |
I use the craftmen one, it looks like a giant c-clamp. dont have the part #. Some other manufacturers probably have similar ones, (Snap-On) and are probably priced accordingly.

Doug,
I used a valve compressor tool I bought from advance auto parts. It has relatively thinner arms than some I have seen. It is a smaller version of the one used on my chevy 350. The puller arms are much thinner. Otherwise you have to buy the two (set) that are made for the job. I found with a little patience and brute force I was able to get the job done. It does wear out the palm of your hand until you get used to it. After the first two or three valves you get the hang of it. A small magnet used to get the retainers out is handy and a helper would be a good idea if you have an interested friend. Three hands would have made this a piece of cake. |

That's the one...It can be done...

OK
How about this (c-clamp) type? I think this might be like the Craftsman one Tim mentioned..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploads/vsc_2.jpg |
