Disabling 996tt rear spoiler

I hear about all kinds of issues with the rear spoilers in the 2000-2005 996TT. Can it be disabled by pulling the relays? I believe there are two. Does this cause a fault light to come on?

If I remember correctly - you can pull one fuse, no fault light but the fuse is also used for opening the deck lid.
