SC Fuel Pressure Gauge connection - There's got to be an easier way
I purchased the HF fuel pressure testing kit that other forum members have recommended; however, I am mystified as to how folks are connecting it to the fuel distributor. I've got hard lines and there is literally no way to get a wrench on the fuel line at the FD without lowering the engine. [pic 1]
![]() ![]() The only way a wrench will fit at the FD is from straight above. The shortest 12mm I have is 4" and I don't think a partial engine drop will give me enough clearance, so I turned to Tony's advice to make the tie-in at the WUR. No problem with access there; however, the HF kit does not have a 12x1.5 male fitting to attach to the fuel line side. [pic 2] ![]() ![]() I have exhausted all of my local parts sources and no one carries metric fuel fittings. The only metric adapter fittings I've found online are from Europe with excessive minimum orders. Should I just buy a 12x1.5 hose barb and connect with flexible tubing? What equipment/fittings are folks using to connect at the WUR?

I just got done repairing my 80SC CIS using fuel pressure gauges. I would recommend disconnecting the injector line on the right side of the output to the WUR and that will give you room to access with a wrench. In my case I do not have the hard lines but I needed to remove the fuel distributor so I did a partial engine drop that can give you all the clearance you need to do repairs. As a side note I had the engine partially dropped while I had my air flow/fuel distributor out and apart while troubleshooting. Since I had to order parts I would jack the engine back up and hand screwed the two motor mount bolts in each night. This was done just in case the jack had a leak and let the engine hang on its own weight.

no.
the gauge goes between the hose and the WUR in the bottom pic. i had an extra adapter off an old WUR that fit the hose on the gauge. not sure what others have done.

Thanks for the suggestions. I really wanted to avoid a partial drop and like I said, I haven't been able to find anything to connect back into the fuel line going to the FD.
As luck sometimes has it, I wandered into ACE hardware for something else and a set of these wrenches caught my eye. ![]() This 10mm went in sideways from the RH side and had just enough room between the hard lines to undo the output line to the WUR. The HF kit includes a 10mm-1.0 female fitting (#19) that takes its place, so time to start testing!
