915 trans adjustment help
After working through the Zimmerman Wiki on rebuilding the 915 - I have a question regarding final adjustment of reverse/5th gear
When I rotate the shifter rod there is a tiny "step" between the blackforks going from 1/2 to 3/4 which I understand to be not a big problem question is when I rotate to reverse/5th there is a noticeable "step" to get to engagement Is that normal? - there does not seem to be a way to adjust this - or is there/ tnx much |

I went through this tutorial a few month ago.
Maybe i am wrong, but as far as i remember there is no chance to adjust the way you need. I only adjusted the way from 1/2 to 3/4. The way to 5/R should be depending on the tolerances of the shifting rod. Did you use a new or another one? Because if it was used in your transmission it could have had this step before. But i am sure you will get response from some cooperatively pros here. |

tnx Rob much appreciated
I cannot recall if that 5/reverse step existed before I took things apart - and i am unclear how it actually affects drivability - the shifter rod might be a replacement - hard to know The rod that the 5th/reverse slider is on s pretty much determined by the detents which are obviously fixed. A mechanic friend said no step should exist between all three locations - makes sense since I rarely shift into 5th and its only reverse from stopped - not sure it matters that much to me if its only a slight annoyance - or will it be way more than that? |
