Anyone installed the Weltmeister jack pad/tow hook?

It looks like I have to move an oil line to make it work. Anyone done this install and come across this? Car is an 82sc.

I've got one on order for an 87 cabriolet. Don't mean to highjack.

Thanks Mark. I've got one and went to install it and I can't see any way to make it work without having to move the oil line. Curious what others have done.

Nevermind, it won't work. I spent some time with it today and I couldn't find a way around the oil line. It's going back.

Ah, well that is too bad. And, it's too bad the thing doesn't work with the later cars. I like the concept. Another reason to get SSI's, I guess.

It would need to move down towards the ground quite a bit (1-2 inches). I'm not going to try it for fear of putting stress on the connection points of the line. Time to try something else for me.

Sean, mine arrived last night....

and you are right.....I only briefly ran out to the garage, as I got home very late, but it will not fit easily. Also looks like the line from the Turbo oil return and drip pan may interfere a little......PITA.
I have purchased a TON of stuff from our host, with ZERO issues, but I wish this was properly explained on the page, so I could have saved myself the grief. I won't return ship it from Toronto, not worth the cost.....so now I will try to sell it if all else fails.....
Great idea, and it would have been slick if it fit my car.....I will see if I can modify it before I give up, at least I have a full time mechanic and a damn good welder working for me.....so there may be hope yet.

Cheers.

I'm a little annoyed as well that it is sold claiming to fit our cars. I was actually thinking about having something fabricated. There just aren't a lot of good options for our cars if you retain the stock bumper. It's an interesting attachement point so if you could fab something to run over the oil line it might work.

That's what I am thinking.....

.....like keeping 75% of it as a template, and re-engineering the lower part that interferes with the oil line, then cutting off that piece and welding up the new modified part, or having a new part made from the template.......I would love the convenience of that jack point to lift quickly, so I can throw jackstands under the rear end......
I will let you know if I make something....and post pics.
