They cut one for me it works fine
Before that I went to a couple big chain stores like Home Depot etc and they don't carry out keys here in canada

A good locksmith shop should have the proper blank on hand. I think it was around 7-10$ last time I had one made.

I have an 81 SC. If the keys are the same as mine, I think originally you would have had a lighted key, a red valet key and a black key that opens everything. The only difference between the red and black keys are the grooving. The key cuts are identical. I bought my key blanks here from Pelican.

I suggest you find a good locksmith that has experience cutting Porsche keys. It was unbelievably hard to find a good one when I had my keys made. First one I went to screwed up an expensive lighted key blank.

What Fuchs said!

My local locksmith scoffed at the idea that I had to pay $20 bucks for a blank.....he made me two keys for less than $10 I think.

I still plan to buy a fancy one with a light in it and convert it to LED......I'm saving up

Scott

P.S. They're just plain and flat but they work and the car only came with one key?

I bought the black blank off our host as well as the lighted blank. I brought them to my local hardware store. The guy said he cut thousands of keys but never a Porsche key. He was apprehensive and told me he wasn't responsible if they didn't work. They work like a champ, and it cost me $8 (excluding blank cost). Only suggestion I have is the have the lighted blank cut before assembling it into the head.

Had a new crest lighted blank cut last year when I was in a similar situation. The local hardware store guru who has been cutting for 30yrs got it done. The machine barely has anything to bite when you get to the second side. More than once he had to stop and fish the blade out of the machine to reset and start again.

I read somewhere before that if you have a genuine Porsche blank, that dealerships will cut them for free. I plan to test that very soon.
