Unhappy 69 911 gauges snafu

Sigh... So I just spent $1150 getting my gauges done at North Hollywood. They came out beautiful.. But... I sent all 5 gauges, but the left two for oil, temp, etc were from a 70+ early car. They already had the extra bits I wanted- real measurements, etc. So, I get them out of the box and realize in an instant.. they don't have screw posts on the rear for my dash like the others do... I pulled out the old two gauges and they of course do have them. These gauges are exactly the same size but came with a huge rubber o-ring around the outside. That's not going to fit in my 69 dash, right? I mean, at some point Porsche realized what a pain it was to get those gauges in and out and went to this compression o-ring style- so did they also widen the diameter of the hole? Or should they fit with the big O-rings? Sure seems like it's about 2-4 mm too small to fit in there.

So if that's the case, what would you do? I thought about drilling a hole in the gauge, cut a long metric screw's head off and using it like a threaded rod. Then I will get shavings all in my new high dollar gauges

Cant believe I never checked the fitment of these two before I had them redone.

You do not need to drill holes, you can use the threaded holes of these screws, insert a threded rod with jam nuts and will work like the studs in the original gauge.

The lettering is slightly different from 69 than 72+

A couple of turns of friction tape or vinyl electrical tape, just behind the bezel lip, will give enough bite for the press-in gauges to fit securely in the opening.

If you ever have to drill and control the shavings coat the end of the bit with grease. This should keep most of the shavings from endering a hold. Thanks Rob
