Targa bands how are they different?

Are these all the same and interchangeable between 1970 and 1994? I have an 89 and want to know what years will fit perfectly on it. Thinking about a retro/forward look and changing my band from black to silver like the older models and now the new one!

I believe that all targa bar cover bands are stainless steel, paint could be stripped on your 89 to achieve the s/s look

All Targa bars (bands) are stainless and fit each year up thru the 964.

Targa Band

Great Looking grey car! What would be the best process to strip the black paint from a band and finish/preserve the SS before reinstalling for the retro look?

use aircraft paint stripper, then just scrape off with a plastic spatula. Sand it down to a bushed look in straight line... use a guide (by clamping it down) so that the "brushed" look is in straight lines.

I am not talking about vent or no vent. As a matter of fact, 964 bars went back to no vent. What I am saying is that they are all the same fit.

Actually, I have a 964 bar on my '87 backdate that I stripped down to a raw silver finish.
