How to Set VDO Clock?

I recently bought an '82 911SC. It appears that recently (the speedo only has 9800+ miles and the total mileage is 159,000) all the instrument panel gauges and clock were replaced with new VDO gauges and clock. The clock's face is about 75mm diam and the glass is perfectly smooth with no buttons or dials. It says "Quarz" and "VDO" on the face. It runs, but how the heck do you set the time???

When I did some searches, I can't seem to find a VDO clock this size. Seems a lot are 52mm diam. and some have buttons on the face of the clock for setting. There is a small toggle switch immediately beside the clock, but it doesn't appear to affect the clock - in fact, I don't know what that switch does at all!
So, does anyone know what model of VDO clock this is and how do you set it? Guess I could disconnect the battery and reconnect at the correct time, but surely there is a better way!

you've got a clock out of a later car, a 964, I believe....those cars had a rocker switch used to set the time.

Try pushing and holding the toggle switch. That's how to set the clock in our 993.

Min. hand will advance slowly at first, then very rapidly.

As I said, the toggle switch immediately adjacent seems inoperative - don't know if it is for the clock and disconnected or is dedicated to something else. I did push and hold it and nothing happened. Guess I'll look around under the dash to see if I find an un-mounted toggle switch or a hidden switch, etc. I have one of those video "snake" cameras so I'll see if I can visualize the back of the clock and trace out from there.

the clock slides right out, the rubber ring is the only thing that holds it in.

the switch should be for headlight washers.

Ran out to the garage and the clock did pull out with a little coaxing! You were also correct in that I looked again with a strong light at the adjacent toggle and saw the dim outline of a headlight, so it is the washer switch, which is not connected. (I have the Ruf front spoiler and apparently the headlight washers weren't re-installed.)

I looked all over the back of the clock, but no switches, buttons, etc. There are several un-connected wires, so I assume a couple of those must go to a toggle? If anyone has the wiring diagram for this clock and can identity those wires, I'd certainly appreciate it!

The clock has a label on the side "VDO 370218/083/1" and the next line reads "964 641 701 00"

I suspect that unused washer toggle could be used for the rocker to adjust the clock ... just need the wire codes!

+1, that is useless... (since he got the clock out) I would unplug the clock instead of the battery.

NOPE! But, now the plot thickens!

I studied the tangle of wires and noticed that there were TWO wires with the same color code (green with brown stripe) and most suspiciously, they had barrel connectors crimped to each of them, but they weren't connected to each other or anything else! Holding my breath and praying no "magic smoke" would appear, I connected them together with a paper clip and voila the clock started advancing - first slowly and then fast! So apparently the installer prepped the wires for a switch but never installed the switch ... OOPS!

I popped the (unused) headlight washer rocker out, cleaned it up with some contact cleaner, and wired that switch between the two wires, popped the clock back in, and all is well! Since the legend was worn off the switch, it'll appear rather "anonymous" but I'll know I can set my clock with it.

Thanks to everyone for the input! Sonnett43 was right on - it's a 964 clock and the "911 clock upgrade" link's wiring diagram matches. (didn't see that 'til I had already figured out to put the switch between the green/brown wires)

Dude, that is my old car! Been looking for that car for a few years!!! You will need to pull the clock out, and there should be 2 wires in the back that you will attach together, that will adjust the clock. I meant to attach the wires to the toggle switch below, but never got around to it.
