911 new engine

Hi I am looking for a 2.2 or 3.0 new engine for my 1969 911S, do you know where can I find one?

Thanks a lot

I plugged in some numbers from pet for the heck of it and got this. It's a 2.7 but I doubt you can order it anyways.

I don't know about a 3.0 but porsche does sell brand new engines, water cooled!

Rebuilt engine ready to install

For a rebuilt add 60 hours of labor and 2 to 3 thousand in parts to a $3000 used one.
That's a ballpark to reference from.

Cheers, Kurt

If you are in california, Tom Amon rebuilds some nice motors for fair prices.

Mobileworkswest.com

For the $20k listed above he can build you a beast of a motor, like a 3.2 stroker with 46mm PMOs, stainless SSIs and badass cams...

i know where there is a very nice 3.0. not many miles. car was hit shortly after it was built. been sitting for about a year an a half now. it was a machanic owned motor, well it still is.
IE, the mechanic built it for himself. i think the price is somewhere between 10-15k.

when i looked into rebuilding my 3.0, with all the machine work and parts i was going to have at least that in it, and that is me doing the work and doing it right.
the motor is in S.C.

A buddy of mine just burnt out the wiring harness (in a small fire) on his 3.2 Carrera and Porsche made him a whole new one (it was covered by insurance which is nice considering it was 22K for them to do it) thus for a price Im sure they will do anything. That being said Porsche has been making quite a buzz about their vintage arm and boasts socking quite a wide selection of parts so you may be able to get a whole motor out of them. That being said its going to cost a small fortune, you are better off getting a motor out of a wreck or something and having it rebuilt. Plus you will be able to customize it during the rebuild.

Regards
Dave

It was something outlandish like that (maybe a bit less) but it was all covered by insurance which made it nice. I guess they had to get lots of stuff out of storage to do it but that price does not surprise me that much I guess considering its a genuine Porsche part.

I would of given you a wiring harness for 22 k plus motor, hell I'll throw in the whole car!

timmy2 04-16-2014 01:12 PM

Lol, genuine Porsche part nowadays just means they bagged and tagged it after picking it up from the cheapest manufacturer they could find...
For example, A single connector I use on engine harnesses from Porsche is $45 and has a Mercedes Benz part number. The same connector from MB is about $8...
But, it comes in a MB plastic bag, not a Porsche labelled plastic bag...

cgarr 04-16-2014 04:37 PM

Ever notice the metal PVC valve on a 3.2 Carrera in the Porsche bag had FORD stamped on it?

Please don't! :) I will be contacting you soon about rebuilding my harness!

timmy2 04-16-2014 05:17 PM

No worries, I don't make genuine porsche harnesses so I can't put them in a bag with a Porsche logo and charge $20,000 for them...
Hmmmm, Maybe I should invest in a bagging machine and label maker. I could definitely pay the legal fees from the obscene profit I would make until I was found out! :)
