Need support - early tranny mounts - conversion to later version

Hello!
I need some support regarding the change of the tranny mounts of an early tranny bridge version, where the rubber is pressed in (different to the later 915-SC-bridge).

Not long ago I saw pictures in a resto-doku here, where somebody presented his way of modifying that early tranny-bridge to be able to easily fix the later mounts.

Can this person please post pictures here or can he/somebody re-link me to that section (cant find it anymore) ?

And: is it possible to plug-and-play and interchange these tranny-bridges?
If yes, it would obsolete the modification.

Thanks!

no one?
or was I unclear?

I ment the how-to modification of a 901-bridge to use 915-moints...

Flojo

Wevo have a kit to allow fitment of later style bushes to earlier transmission carrier.

However there is some conjecture as to whether this is required.

Others have successfully pressed out the old 1 piece porsche bush and installed wevo, ER or other aftermarket transmission bushes- canfied classics been an example

I'm about to do the same

If you want to drive yourself a bit mad do a quick (re)search here - plenty of confusion doubt and hysteria :)

Post your results
Cheers Michel

thanks, I found that wevo-solution via google...

I like the hint to "drill" a 915 bridge to fit a 901 tranny.

but how?
I have no parts to compare 1:1 to get a clear(er) imagination.

Hi flojo do a pelican search there has been a few different DIY versions.
One is drill tap there has been another with a plate bolted to a 915 and it tapped to suit tranny

I've done this with a 930 crossmember that is similar to the early style crossmember in that the bushings are not supposed to be replacable. I used the Rebel Racing split mounts.

Basically just use your preferred method of getting the original rubber bushings out of the crossmember (I use heat), then the new bushings simply slide into place from the top and bottom. It's super easy.

I did modify the bushings slightly by shaving the tops and bottoms to get a better O.E. style fitment. Otherwise the crossmember mount bolts would have been too short to mount the trans to the chassis properly.
