Spring plate bushing replacement: Where does this go?
 

As part of a suspension refresh, I'm replacing the torsion bars and spring plate bushings with a set which I had on the shelf since 2 years ... (Never bothered to install them ...)

I bought them from Mittelmotor.de and they are a harder type of "plastic". Is this polygraphite or Neatrix?

Where does the ring go as I can't see it on any of the part diagrams? I did a quick check and it seems to fit in the spring plate cover or in the torsion tube?

I have never installed such a part on any spring plate bushing replacement I Have completed.

Your bushing looks like the standard elephand/neatrix bushing material. I didn't get that ring with my set from Elephant installed a few months back now. ??? A spacer ?? if your bushing is shorter for some reason or just a stray part is my guess. That big chamfer side goes against the torsion plate to accommodate the weld.
I wouldn't stick anything in the torsion tube or the cover if it isn't loaded and doing something.

That's what I was afraid of ... I've asked the seller to explain the usage of the ring but I'm not sure they're going to respond.

Anyone else has an idea where to use the ring/spacer?

never seen it before... call the manufacturer.

Neatrix and Elephant Racing are a hard rubber, similar to a hockey puck. If they are a hard plastic feel, and make a noise when you tap your fingernails on them, they are probably polygraphite.

Everyone is entitled to make their own choices, but generally Neatrix or ER are preferred here on the forum to polygraphite.

If fitted my Weltmeister polygraphites 10 years ago for a couple of years. Did not used those rings, but I thought they would fit into the outer cover due the same looking radius instead of the edge of the bush itself. But I have no proof for this, just what I thought then. No issues without anyway for a couple of thousand km's. Went to 935 suspension after

is it a g50 or 915?

915 (1978 SC) Could it be a G50 part or are they a completely different setup?

Just got confirmation from the supplier:
the rings belong to the cars '87-'89.
For all others before you do not need them.

Just did my '87 with Neatrix and those rings were not part of the process. I've never seen them before...no idea where they would go. The main difference between G50 and 915 cars, is the length of the bar, and the tube on the spring plate (longer). No place for the rings that I know of.
