oil temp gauge/and head lights

i noticed that when i turn on the headlights on my 1975 targa the oil temp gauge immediately increases about 5 to 10 degrees and drops back as soon as i shut them off. has anyone experienced this and is it a problem or just a quirk of the wiring/

I have not seen this one, but I would put my money on a poor ground. Putting on your headlights, also lights up the little lights at the gauges, so if you had a poor gound on the gauge cluster for the oil temp, it might cause the gauge to be affected....

just a guess....I have seen turn signals get messed up that way, put on the left and both blink...
