40mm wheel spacers?
In an earlier post about tire rub, I came to the conclusion that I probably needed 40MM wheel spacers on the back. I am guessing that my existing ones are about 2" but don't have the car at hand to measure for sure.
But I'm have problems finding 40mm spacers, H&R had some 43mm for $259, but.... I had thought about turning mine down to 40mm - 1.56' if they are in fact 2" but then I was wondering if this would create a too thin spacer to support the wheel studs, as these in the back are the ones that bolt on using the original bolts and then have separate studs. Any thoughts of finding more affordable spacers or turning down the existing ones?

Could you turn them down to the thickness you want then push the studs out. Then have extra long studs on the car's hubs that go straight through your spacers. In effect they go from being wheel adapters to being wheel spacers.

There must be a place somewhere in the US that makes custom spacers?
I have bought several spacers online that's custom to my need.

Bill, That might be better than using them as designed. I will keep that in mind.
Safe, I'm sure there would be, but probably more expensive than the H&R spacers.

I'll look through my notes to see if I can find a link.

I got mine from this outfit. Here's a link to off-the-shelf 1.5" (38mm) spacers. If you really need 40mm instead of 38, I'd contact them, as I recall they will do custom orders.

I would try to get wheels that have a better fitting offset. Adapters are weird - a set of bolts you can't check.

Arne, I tried to call the ebay store. But those seem like the right ones for street use. Just trying to find out a bit about return policy if they don't fit. Obviously you were satisfied with the quality.
Yea FT, the cup wheels that are on there are nice, but when I start doing DE I would like some wheels that fit without spacers.

Compared to H&R spacers it was half the price. About $400 for 4 spacers, hard to compare prices between Sweden and the US, its generally cheaper in the US.
